Wrap It!

Untitled #4

Dear fashion addicts,

Spring is officially here, so we are ready to give up on our coats, boots and winter clothes in favor of dresses, flip-flops, jackets and sun glasses.

In fact, as a first spring clothing article I propose to you the wrap dress.

This easy to wear article is considered to be invented in 1974 by Diane von Furstenberg. She is not the first person to create it, but Diane remained in history as “the queen” of the wrap dress.

Coming in New York with a suitcase with 12 jersey shirtdressed, she succeeded  in only few years to sold over a million of her signature dresses and becoming the icon for the liberating style movement for women around the globe.

What means a wrap dress?

For those of you who don’t know, the wrap dress is a dress with a front closure formed by wrapping one side across the other, and knotting the attached ties that wrap around the back at the waist or fastening buttons.

There is also a faux wrap dress which resembles this design, except that it comes already fastened together with no opening in front, but instead is slipped on over the head.

  • forms a V-shaped neckline
  • hugs a woman’s curves
  • is versatile
  • easy-to-wear
  • easy to pack and style

Here I created a glamorous mix with a Diane von Furstenberg wrap dress. Do you own a wrap dress, yet? If you do, how you accessorize it? Let me know.
